Review by S. Kauser for Collins Applied Business - AS for AQA Student's Book Rating: I bought one of the used products for £8.00 but with delivery came up to £10.97. It was the best and I would say but the second hand ones as they are cheaper. A good purchase and unlike water stones is much cheaper and quick. I definetly would say it derserves 5 stars

Good examples and they are easy to follow.
You can read it in an afternoon and you will feel that should be easy.
I expect your accountant wont drop their bill(unless you prod them) but they will be happy with the extra finesse your accounts will have.
Does wot it says on the tin!

As i did not want to follow the double entry style of book-keeping this book keeps it simple and concise.
Money well spent...

Review by for Book-keeping and Accounting for Your Small Business (Teach Yourself Business & Professional) Rating: Good clear no fuss bookkeeping system for the sole proprietor with useful examples of books from a shopkeeper, taxi driver and builder. Note however that "it is NOT suitable for use by limited companies, even when the only shareholder is the only director" and is problematic if you have more than one bank account or a lot of orders/purchases on credit. Best for VERY small businesses.

Most reference books are full of "double entry", "journals" etc, and some are geared only towards students. This book is very practically based, not academic, and will be of real interest and help to small business owners who simply want to comply with the book-keeping requirements laid down by law.If you are a student, or wish to know the "proper" way of accounting - i.e. double entry principles, don't buy this book - however, if you want practical, down to earth help on how to do your "books", it is excellent value for money and probably the best book of it's kind that I have seen.

Review by MikeH for Outlook 2003 Step by Step Book/CD Package (Step by Step (Microsoft)) Rating: I've used Step by Step books before, most notably for learning the ins and outs of MS Excel and I found it most useful. On this occasion I have found the process more difficult. Perhaps it is the programme itself that doesn't help. Whilst this version of Outlook has many favourable features, overall I have found it unecessarily complicated having fallen into the trap of offering all sorts of bells and whistles that one doesn't really need. As a result locating the information within the book you really need to have is a laborious process even when going 'step by step'. Also many of the practice files on the disc cannot be accessed so whole sections of the learning process cannot be undertaken and verified. I shall stick with it and eventually find what I want but will think twice about another Step by Step in future.
